Caldwell hints at Wigan stay

Central defender Steven Caldwell is still hopeful of staying at Wigan, despite being released from his contract.[LNB] The centre-back joined the Premier League club on a 12-month deal last summer linking up with his brother Gary.[LNB]However, the 30-year-old found opportunities hard to come by once his sibling regained full fitness after double-hip surgery.[LNB]And earlier this month, it was reported that the former Burnley and Sunderland man has been released by the club, however, Caldwell is keen to extend his stay at the DW Stadium.[LNB]He said: "I'm basically a free agent as I don't know what's going to happen with Wigan.[LNB]"I was under the impression there was the possibility of staying for another year if I wanted.[LNB]"But no matter what happens, I most definitely enjoyed the opportunity I had there."[LNB]
