Bruce slams Zaki actions

Wigan boss Steve Bruce has branded Amr Zaki's recent actions as 'totally unacceptable'. The Egyptian striker went missing after limping out of a 2010 World Cup qualifier against Zambia on 29th March. It is believed that he arrived back in England on Thursday, but his whereabouts remain a mystery. The disrupting episode has left everyone at the JJB Stadium disappointed and frustrated, with Bruce's plans thrown into disarray. The Latics chief is determined not to make any rash decisions until he has spoken to the troublesome frontman, but admits his patience has been stretched to breaking point. "We do believe he is in the country and has arrived back in the country today," Bruce told Sky Sports News. "We will meet him and his representatives in the next 24 hours and see where we go from there. "I think the first thing to do is to speak to Amr and see where he is on all of this. I have made my point brutally clear of how disappointed I am with the whole situation. We are just saddened that it's turned out like this. Contact "We will see how it goes tomorrow and then take it from there. Once we do that we will make it public to everyone who has been following the saga." Bruce added: "It's a very difficult situation that we have been put in, we need to speak to the boy himself. "We have had no contact with him personally, we have spoken to his advisors and I must say they have been hugely respectful but, until we find out the state of Amr's head and the problems he must have, we have to wait to see what he has to say." Zaki is currently on a season-long loan at Wigan from El Zamalek, but Bruce has revealed that there is little chance of the Latics extending their association with the African ace. "It makes it very difficult, I have to be honest," he said. "It's not the first time we have had this situation, it's the fourth or fifth, and we have dealt with it before. But I find it totally unacceptable, the whole situation he has put the club into, and he has to have a bit of respect for the people who pay him. "We don't even know how bad his injury is, it could be that he is out for the season anyway. "We do know that he has got a hamstring problem and he has limped out of the last four minutes of the Egyptian game which was 11 or 12 days ago, but until we assess him and see how he is we will not know where we are up to."
