Bruce - No United favours

Steve Bruce insists Wigan Athletic will not be giving his old club Manchester United any favours in Wednesday's pivotal league clash. The Red Devils only need four points from their final three Premier League matches to clinch another title following Sunday's derby win over Manchester City, starting with a trip to The JJB. Wigan were uncharacteristically poor defensively at the weekend after slipping to a 3-1 defeat to bottom-of-the-table West Brom - their fourth defeat in five league outings. Bruce admits his back line were not at their best at The Hawthorns, but hopes they will be much tighter when Sir Alex Ferguson's troops visit in midweek. "We will be better defensively," explained Bruce. "The reason we are in the position we are in is that defensively - and not just the back four and goalkeeper - we have been difficult to beat. We were so open but we don't usually play like that. "We couldn't score so were always relying on our men at the back but they had a bad half hour."
