Steve Bruce has hailed Wigan's "unbelievable success story" under chairman Dave Whelan after the 1-0 victory over Hull City.[LNB] Ben Watson's late volley secured a win that moves the Latics back up to seventh in the Premier League and has fans dreaming of a place in the UEFA Europa League next term.[LNB]But the Wigan boss is not getting carried away just yet with eight games still to play before the end of the season.[LNB]"We've got to keep our feet on the ground," Bruce said.[LNB]"It's been a great start and all season we've been competitive and given the big teams a real run for their money. We've got five or six of the bottom teams (to play), which of course will be difficult but they are games we can get points from. So it's all to play for, happy days.[LNB]"It's an unbelievable success story. When the chairman bought (the club) in 1995, it was a ramshackle old stadium with 1200 people and he said then that he wanted to play in the Premier League.[LNB]"Everyone thought he was nuts and now he has said he wants to finish in Europe. Who knows - it could be his year. He deserves it, the club has come a long way.[LNB]"We won't get carried away but we've got some good players here and we've proved it again today."[LNB]GoalsBruce was pleased to see his team finally overcome their 'Achilles heel' in the 84th minute through Ben Watson's goal.[LNB]He added on: "The best team won but we made life difficult for ourselves. That's our Achilles heel - scoring a goal.[LNB]"We made umpteen opportunities and the longer it goes the more I think it's not going to be our day, which is similar to what's happened in the past here.[LNB]"But all credit to them , they stuck at it and Ben got his second goal of the week which will do him the world of good."[LNB]
