Steve Bruce has not given up hope of bringing continental competition to Wigan next season.[LNB] The Latics remain in the hunt for a top-seven finish, with a 2-1 victory over Sunderland on Saturday brining an end to their recent wobble.[LNB]With seventh expected to be good enough to secure a UEFA Europa League place, Bruce's men currently sit just one point off the pace.[LNB]Should they realise their goal, it would represent a remarkable achievement for a side that were playing non-league football just over 30 years ago.[LNB]"It would be terrific to bring European football to the JJB Stadium," said Bruce.[LNB]"It would be an unbelievable achievement for the club when you think how far Wigan have come since 1978 when they were still playing non-league football.[LNB]"How we would cope with it is another matter.[LNB]"If Tottenham and Aston Villa can't cope with the amount of games, then I'm not so sure we would.[LNB]"But to be in there with a chance with nine games to go is terrific. At this time last season we were really twitching."[LNB]
