Bruce backs Catt for England

Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce is backing youngster Lee Cattermole to one day represent England at senior level.[LNB] Cattermole has impressed for the Latics this season with a string of gutsy displays in the heart of midfield since his summer switch from Middlesbrough.[LNB]Bruce has been delighted with the England Under 21 international's form and is hopeful he will continue to develop as a player.[LNB]Fierce competitor"He's only 20 and has got years ahead of him. He gives us real energy and he's a fierce competitor," said Bruce in the Daily Star.[LNB]"You'd think at his age he might run out of gas, but he has just got stronger as the season has progressed. He's a powerful boy.[LNB]"As long as he keeps his feet on the ground, keeps learning and progressing, he has an outstanding chance of doing exactly what he wants to do.[LNB]"Whether he can make the step up to the England senior side... I think he will."[LNB]
