The agent of out of contract Swansea midfielder, Leon Britton, has confirmed that the Latics are in the hunt to sign the 27 year old. Britton was said to be the subject of an offer from the Latics in January as Martinez looked to bolster the creativity of his midfield. Now he is out of contract, Wigan are said to be one of five clubs interested in his signature. Speaking to Sky Sports, Britton's agent, Glenn Corcoran said: "Leon is facing what is obviously a big decision at this stage of his career and has not signed anything with anybody or given any verbal assurances. "As things stand he will be a free agent on June 30 when his contract expires, but anybody who thinks he has already left Swansea is wrong. "It would not be right for me to talk about specific clubs, but there are two in the Premier League and two in the Championship as well as Swansea," Speaking about the possibility that the former West Ham player and Arsenal trainee would not be up to plying his trade in the top flight, Corcoran added: "Everyone might be saying that Leon is sure to go to the Premier League, but he has got to be sure he will play because he would not be happy as a bit-part player or a squad player. "Football is all about opinions - there will be some who will say Leon can't play in the Premier League and others who think he would be good enough. "But there is no doubt in my mind that he is a Premier League player because of his quality, his energy, his first touch and his ability to pick a pass. "Yes, he would need time to adapt to the pace and the physicality of the Premier League, but I believe he would do well there." CLICK HERE FOR THE MESSAGEBOARD
