Bramble still in transition

Wigan defender Titus Bramble admits the club are still coming to terms with a summer of change. The Latics saw manager Steve Bruce lured away by Premier League rivals Sunderland during pre-season, with Roberto Martinez brought in from Swansea as his replacement. The Spaniard immediately set about bringing in fresh faces, with a number of new recruits added to the Wigan squad. Inevitably it will take time for the arrivals to settle in their new surroundings, while Martinez is tasting life in top flight management for the first time. A combination of these factors has therefore been offered as the reason for the club's inconsistent start to the 2009/10 campaign. "We are still adapting to the new manager, it's still a transitional period, but if we work hard I'm sure we'll improve," said Bramble following Saturday's 4-0 defeat to Arsenal. "We just didn't get properly started and if that happens against a team like Arsenal, then you're going to get punished and that's what happened." Wigan currently sit 15th in the Premier League table, with six points taken from their opening six fixtures.
