Emmerson Boyce hopes to sign a contract extension with Wigan to end any uncertainty about his future. The versatile defender has established himself as a key player for the Latics since joining the club from Crystal Palace in 2006. He has been pleased with the progress made by Wigan in recent seasons and hopes to play a part in what he sees as a bright future. However, discussions over a new deal have been ongoing for the best part of a year and Boyce is now about to enter the final 12 months of his current deal. The 29-year-old is keen for the situation to be resolved ahead of the 2009/10 Premier League campaign. "We are in talks at the moment and we'll see what happens over the summer," Boyce told the Wigan Evening Post. Right decision"Everything has to be right in these situations. Hopefully we can sort something out and come to an agreement. "Wigan is a good club to be at, it is making progress and there is no reason why I shouldn't stay here. "Coming here proved to be the right decision and hopefully I'll be at the club for much longer. "I always try to give 100 per cent every game. I've been in and out of the team at times this season which has been a little bit frustrating but overall I've enjoyed it." Bramble praiseBoyce has also paid tribute to centre-back Titus Bramble, who has won five player of the year awards after an excellent season. "I think Titus has answered his critics well this season. He has shown great character," said Boyce. "Titus is playing with confidence and can hopefully push on to the next level, whether that be to play for England or at least getting the respect he deserves. "He has rightly been voted player of the year by the fans, his team-mates and the media - he has been outstanding."
