Boselli sought advice from Veron

Mauro Boselli has revealed that he consulted former Manchester United and Chelsea midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron about English football before signing for Wigan.

Boselli completed his move to the DW Stadium on Tuesday for an undisclosed fee, putting pen to paper on a four-year deal. The Argentinian striker joined the Latics from Estudiantes, where he played alongside Veron, who struggled to make an impact in the Premier League after signing for United in 2001.

"Juan played for Manchester United and Chelsea and has good knowledge of the English game," Boselli told www.wiganlatics.co.uk. "He told me it was the best place in the world to play your football and that it would be the best place for me as a player."

Boselli was also impressed by what he heard from Wigan boss Roberto Martinez and now the deal is done, the 25-year-old cannot wait to get started with his new club.

"To be honest I wish we could start tomorrow," Boselli said.

"Everything Roberto said about the club and English football helped a great deal and made me realise that this was the right move for me.

"He wanted me here to play and enjoy my football in Wigan, which means a lot to me.

"In Argentina fans appreciate a player who plays with passion, and from what I've seen it's the same in England.

"Hopefully I can make the fans proud of the work I do on the pitch for them and for the team."
