Bobby hoping for win against Wolves

Roberto Martinez is hoping the Latics can get three points against Wolves in the early kick off on Saturday. Both clubs are presently sat at the wrong end of the table after just a handful of games in the opening to the Premier League season. Despite this, Latics boss Roberto Martinez is pleased with what he has seen from his side so far this season, and he is hoping to push on and get a result against Mick McCarthy's men. Speaking to the club's official website, Martinez praised his team's attitude and desire so far this season. He said: "We have showed really good signs at home so far this season."Even against Manchester City, we showed those signs, and it was a self-inflicted result after the two soft goals. If we can eradicate those areas, then the performance that we've all been looking for is just around the corner. "We are developing a belief in our own ability. There are moments in the game that you really need to work as a group, and really suffer, and we've done that. That develops the confidence and belief that we can compete against anyone, and that's probably the biggest part of trying to get rid of that inconsistency that we showed last campaign."This is a new squad, but a squad that is starting to play with real togetherness and a real desire to win football games on a consistent basis."We are looking forward to having a home game and a game that we feel that we can really impose ourselves on, and try to please the fans." The Latics boss was also full of respect for the work that Mick McCarthy has done at Wolverhampton Wanderers and he knows it will be a difficult game. "I've been very impressed with Wolverhampton Wanderers this season, and the results don't reflect the work that they've done," added Martinez."Obviously last campaign was a very good one for them - they achieved the aims of the season, and they managed to keep all the good performers. They also signed a couple of players who brought something different to the team, and against Spurs and Fulham, they were very unfortunate to lose a few goals late on in the game, and that was then reflected in the score line."They've got a tremendous team ethic, they work really hard, and then they've got real talent up front, and they can be very energetic and do the transition between defending and attacking very quickly and hurt you."For us, it's now just making sure that we can help ourselves, control the game, and give the level of performance that we know we are capable of."
