Bayern Munich have joined the chase for Wigan winger Antonio Valencia, in a further indication that they are bracing themselves for the loss of Franck Ribery. It comes after approaches for the France international from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United, as revealed in Sportsmail yesterday. However, United remain favourites to land Valencia for around £18million. Wigan chairman Dave Whelan is hoping to wrap up a quick deal with the Barclays Premier League champions. He said: 'I know Sir Alex Ferguson likes Antonio, and I don't blame him, because he's a brilliant player. 'Fergie knows what he wants and knows what he will pay. If he wants a player, he usually gets him. It shouldn't be too difficult reaching an agreement.'
