April fools

There was no April fools article yesterday on WIGANER.net, but here is a look back at past pieces.

2010 - Latics launch audacious Beckham bidThe Latics were linked with a bid for David Beckham in a bid to raise the profile of the club - surely not?

2009 - Whelan set to rename the clubWe went one further than Dave Whelan renaming the stadium. Surely he couldn't get away with calling us DW Fitness Athletic?

2008 - Pitch battle to result in points lossThe infamous JJB Stadium pitch was set to cost the club points. The FA were set to deduct us points for an unfair playing surface?!

2007 - De Zeeuw and Jackson set to leaveThey were the rocks at the heart of our defence. Surely De Zeeuw and Jackson couldn't be set for a switch to the Trotters?

2006 - Lindsay set to inherit the LaticsNot long after being appointed to the board, it was confirmed that Maurice Lindsay was set to inherit the Latics should anything happen to Mr Whelan.

2005 - Plan to throw the rugby out the stadiumOne of the more pleasant of our April fools. The idea that Wigan Warriors would have to play at the Robin Park Arena delighted a good number of Latics' fans.

2004 - The price of promotion10p for a visit to the lavatory, or a season ticket for £2?! Surely nobody fell for this one?
