Wigan Athletic player of the season, Ali Al-Habsi is hoping for further first team opportunities with the Latics after a wonderful season on loan with the club. The 29 year old Omani international has revealed that he no longer wants to be a number two at his parent club Bolton and wants first team action. Al-Habsi also revealed that he has enjoyed his time with the Latics this season and he would love the opportunity to return to the club next season. Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post, Al-Habsi said: “It has been a wonderful year for me at Wigan, and I thank everyone involved with the club for making me feel so welcome here. “You can only play your best football when you are happy off the field, and that has certainly been the case. I would love to stay with Wigan, but who knows what will happen in the future? Al-Habsi's comments came on the back of winning the club's player of the season award last night and he did comment that there is one more very important match for the club this season. He added: “All we are focused on at the moment is Sunday’s game with Stoke, which is one of the biggest games in our history. “If we can win that and secure our Premier League status, then we can all start to look forward to next season.” Reading between the lines it would appear as though Al-Habsi's stay at the DW Stadium could well hinge on the outcome of the game with Stoke this weekend.
