Ali Al-Habsi is insistent that the squad will use the injustice of the Chelsea defeat on DSautrday as motivation for the visit of Manchester United tomorrow evening.

The Latics were defeated 2-1 at the weekend but both Chelsea goals were clearly offside and defender Branislav Ivanovic escaped punishment for a punch on Shaun Maloney.

Now Al-Habsi insists that the squad are ready to beat the injustive of Saturday by defeating title challengers Manchester United.

Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post Oman international Al-Habsi said: “We showed at Chelsea how much fight there is in the team by coming back to equalise, and we’ll need to show the same spirit against United.

“There is still a great deal of confidence in the dressing room – that comes from the way we have been playing in recent weeks.

“Obviously we are disappointed at what happened, but we’ll bounce back like we always do and be ready for Wednesday.”

There was also a message from the goalkeeper to the hundreds of fans who have attended a pre-game meet and greet at the stadium before the game.

“We’ll need the fans behind us if we are to do anything, but they were incredible again at Chelsea and I’m sure it’ll be the same again," added Al-Habsi.

The sessions have been a big hit with the players who are very grateful for the support. A similar session is arranged for Wednesday evening at 5.30pm.
