Antolin Alcaraz hopes the midweek Carling Cup win over Hartlepool gives Wigan the confidence to get their Premier League season on track.[LNB] Roberto Martinez's Latics sit bottom of the fledgling table having lost their opening two games against Blackpool and Chelsea.[LNB]A 3-0 victory Hartlepool at least saw them hit the net but there remains significant room for improvement when they travel to Tottenham.[LNB]Alcaraz - who captained the team against Hartlepool - hopes the win, combined with a dose of positive mental attitude, can help Wigan get up and running in the league.[LNB]"It's a bit of confidence for us," he said. "It's only one game in one competition but it's good for everybody, especially for the forwards who gain more confidence from scoring three goals, but we now need to take points in the league, whether it's three or one, we need to take a point.[LNB]"It's very special for me to have been captain but I think there are lots of captains in the team, but it was a very special honour for me.[LNB]Alcaraz continued on the club's official website: "It's good that we didn't concede a goal but we also played very well and it's important that we now take that performance and also the performance in the first half against Chelsea and perform well against Tottenham. But it's important that we also do it for 90 minutes.[LNB]"Tottenham are a very good team but we will try to do our best. We have very good players and we just need a little bit of belief and confidence to do well in the competition."
