Ali Al Habsi is now officially a Wigan Athletic player after joining the club for a reported three million pounds. The 29 year old goalkeeper won the player of the season award last season at the DW Stadium whilst on loan from neighbours Bolton Wanderers. Supporters are delighted that the Oman international has now signed for the club on a permanent basis. Speaking about the move, Al Habsi told the club's official website: "Wigan Athletic means so much to me, this is the club that first gave me the opportunity to play regular football in the Premier League and that's an opportunity I will never forget. "Memories like the West Ham United and Stoke City wins had a lasting effect," said Al Habsi, "and even when I went back to Oman in the summer I was watching those two games all over again with my friends and family."Fantastic games, great excitement that made me want more and now I can't wait to get going again for the 2011/12 campaign. "Now the work begins to make sure we start next season as strong as we finished the last and continue with the hard work we put in this year." With the signing of Al Habsi now secured, Roberto Martinez is turning his attentions to replacing Tom Cleverley who has returned to Old Trafford following his loan spell last season.
