Al Habsi committed to Latics
Oman goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi has accepted he must put club before country and help Wigan in their fight to remain in the Barclays Premier League
Al Habsi, on a season-long loan from Bolton, is preparing for the vital match against fellow strugglers West Ham on Saturday rather than playing in the Gulf Cup in Yemen.
He told the Evening Post: "I want to concentrate all my attention on Wigan because this is my team now.
"It would have been hard to fly back home for the tournament and then come back here and hope to keep my place.
"I will have to make do with watching on TV, but hopefully Oman can do well without me - we are the reigning champions."
