Club History1887-88
The first record of a Weston-super-Mare side was when they lost to Clevedon Town in a medal competition organised by the Somerset FA. The following year they Weston were members of a County Committee of the Somerset FA.
1911 Weston won their first cup when they beat Clevedon Town 3-0 in the Weston Charity Cup. The Seagulls also entered the FA Cup for the first ever time.
1913-14 Weston finnished third in the Bristol Charity League behind Bath City and Bristol Rovers Reserves.
1922-23 Weston played in the Bristol and District League coming second behind Bristol Leather Trades. Weston also won the Bristol Charity Cup.
1926-27 Weston won their third ever cup defeating Paulton Rovers in the Semi Final after starting with nine men because two players had been sent bogus telegrams advising that the match was off. Weston defeated Welton Rovers in the Final in front of a 6,000 crowd. The Seagulls were also finalists in the Clevedon Charity Cup losing to Clevedon in the final. In those days Weston players paid 6/6d to play (thats twelve and a half pence).
1948 Weston Football Club reformed after World War Two and entered the Western League.
1950's The Club spent most of this time in the Western League Division Two going close to promotion on a couple of occasions. The club moved from the Great Ground in Locking Road where they regulary attracted crowds of over 1,000 to Langford Road.
1961-62 The club reached the first round of the FA Cup, but were beaten by local rivials Bridgewater Town in the last minute in a replay, in front of a home crowd of 2,500, This defeat ment the club missed out on a home tie against Crystal Palace.
1982-83 Weston moved to their present ground Woodspring Park, the ground itself was built almost entirely by supporters.
