Zola pleased with stalemate
02 Dec 2008 - 07:25:50
West Ham United manager Gianfranco Zola claimed his side were well worth their point picked up in Monday's goalless draw with Liverpool at Anfield.
The Hammers extended their unbeaten run to three games despite the home side dominating possession and creating a host of chances.
Goalkeeper Robert Green was in impressive form, while Zola's side could have snatched an unlikely victory when former Reds striker Craig Bellamy missed a last-gasp chance.
"We played a very good match, we had chances - as many as Liverpool - and we certainly deserved a point," said Zola.
"I am very pleased with my team performances of late. It was another clean sheet and we knew that was something we had to achieve.
"We are working well as a group and we are starting to get the results.
"Our goalkeeper Robert Green was outstanding, but then so were Matthew Upson and Craig Bellamy.
"Robert is getting what he deserves for working so hard. He is performing well and if he continues to play at this level then he will certainly interest the England manager.
"Now we must not lose this momentum. We have Spurs next at home and that will be hard but things at last seem to be going our way."
