Zola on Rooney

Gianfranco Zola lavished in-form England striker Wayne Rooney after his brilliance helped see the Premiership Champions overcome his Hammers side on Tuesday night. Rooney netted two sublime headers following great attacking moves, his first coming to break a decent spell of domination for the Hammers in the first half. “I described Wayne Rooney as a King Midas,” said Zola. “Everything he touches now turns into gold. He's in the type of form where every opportunity can turn up a goal. “I thought he had a normal game tonight but he still scored two goals and could've got another one. That says a lot about the player.”
