Zola looking for instant reaction

West Ham United boss Gianfranco Zola has demanded an instant reaction from his players after Monday's disappointing 3-0 defeat to Liverpool.

The Hammers slipped to a first defeat in three Premier League games after a slow start at Upton Park saw them trail to goals from Yossi Benayoun and David N'Gog after just 30 minutes.

Robert Green's second-half own goal completed the misery for the struggling home side, who remain just three points clear of the drop zone but having played a game more Hull City immediately below them.

"I don't think it was our best performance. I think we started well and were comfortable on the pitch but the first goal changed things completely," said Zola, who is set to leave Upton Park in the summer whatever happens during the final three games of the season, according to newspaper reports on Tuesday.

"I think we felt we couldn't come back from it. We all disappointed but it is not a moment to think too much about that.

"We made mistakes today. They were very costly and we didn't play very well.

"But we need to react straight away because on Saturday we have a very important game (at home to Wigan Athletic)."
