Yet another injury set back for West Ham's Andy Carroll

West Ham United’s Andy Carroll will be side-lined for four months after excessive investigations into his injury found the England international has torn ligaments in his left ankle, according to Jack Sullivan, the son of West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan.

Although the injury has no connection with his previous injury, it has come precisely a year after the striker suffered a similar injury, side-lining him for the first half of the season. The club were forced to re-sign Carlton Cole, after releasing him, but this time will feel a little comfort with the knowledge of more significant back up in the shape of Mauro Zarate and Enner Valencia, who will sign for the Hammers if he is granted a work permit.

Carroll signed in the summer of 2013 for £15million but has only started 15 games since then, and there is no guarantee that that stat will increase significantly. Jack Sullivan also commented that Carroll will not be sold in this window.
