Even West Ham sources now accept Matthew Upson will be allowed toleave in January if they can get the right money for him, somethingthat has long been evident as failed Icelandic bank Straumur stay incontrol of the club.
Liverpool remain the most likely bidders, though with their ownfinancial difficulties, they are likely to wait until the summer tosecure Upson at a reduced £5million fee, when he has just one year lefton his contract.
If there are no serious Premier League takers, West Ham still insistthey will not be forced to sell the likes of Carlton Cole and RrobGreen.
But with Harry Redknapp in the market for a new goalkeeper and withhis initial choice David James struggling with injury, it will beintriguing to see whether West Ham would be able to resist am £8m offerfor Green, the man likely to be England's No 1 at the World Cup.
West Ham are searching for new buyers, but the most credible candidate, Air Asia's Tony Fernandes, has cooled his interest for now, meaning the club must hope they are not marketing a Championship club for sale come May.
