    Tevez refutes blame game

    26 Apr 2007 - 09:14:52

West Ham United striker Carlos Tevez has dismissed claims that his arrival, along with fellow Argentinian Javier Mascherano, was the catalyst for the Hammers' dismal form this season.

The Irons are deep in relegation trouble with just three games to play, but Tevez insists that he has always given his best for the club, although he admits he is likely to move on if they go down.

He told the Daily Mirror: "The people who have blamed me and Mascherano for everything do not understand football.

"These problems have never been caused by us, either because of the transfer or the problems on the pitch.

"Javier is a big player and I cannot say about myself, but we are not to blame. Anyone who says that is wrong.

"I care for this club and have only ever done everything I can as a player and as a person to help West Ham this season.

"It is impossible to speak now about my future as it all depends on the club and the table.

"But if West Ham stay in the Premier League, I want to stay. I don't know what will happen if the disaster happens."

Tevez has scored four goals in his last seven appearances, having taken 20 games to get off the mark, while midfielder Mascherano has already moved on to join Liverpool.
