Tevez offered escape route
17 Apr 2007 - 07:44:30
West Ham striker Carlos Tevez has been offered a summer escape route from the Premiership after Corinthians revealed they would like to have the striker back among their ranks.
Tevez left Corinthians along with fellow Argentina international Javier Mascherano last August.
Mascherano has since left the ailing Hammers for Liverpool after failing to persuade either former boss Alan Pardew or current manager Alan Curbishley that he deserved a first-team place.
Tevez has proved more successful and, although the former Boca Juniors hitman took 18 games to score his first goal for the club, has become a firm favourite with Hammers fans.
The 23-year-old has since bagged three goals for the relegation-threatened club and new Corinthians coach Paulo Cesar Carpegiani has revealed his interest in re-signing the diminutive frontman.
"It (Tevez's return) would be great, but I haven't asked the board about him because I was appointed very quickly," Carpegiani told Sao Paulo-based TV Bandeirantes.
"We haven't had time to talk about signings, but every great player will always be welcomed."
The Premier League has yet to take action after charging West Ham with breaches of rules U.18 and B.13 over the signings of the two Argentines last summer.
Rule U.18 forbids ownership of players by third parties, while B.13 states that clubs must act in good faith to both the league and its other clubs.
