Tevez earns Pardew ire
26 Nov 2006 - 10:20:09
West Ham United boss Alan Pardew slammed Carlos Tevez after the striker stormed straight out of Upton Park after being substituted in the 1-0 win over Sheffield United.
The Argentinian was replaced just past the hour mark, with Pardew bringing on Teddy Sheringham and Marlon Harewood to add a physical presence to his side.
Pardew revealed after the game: "Carlos went straight home and he didn't give me a chance to explain why I took him off.
"We had lost Danny Gabbidon with a hamstring injury and that meant that we had a little team out there.
"I needed to get substitutes Teddy Sheringham and Marlon Harewood on to the pitch to bring some height back to us and defend bits and pieces.
"Carlos got a great reception because the fans recognise his technique and I'm disappointed that's he just left the ground before we all got back to the dressing room.
"That's disrespectful and it's only happened to me once before as a manager.
"That was a few years back and I'm not prepared to name the other player, but I fined him a week's wages and now I'm expecting a big explanation from Carlos on Monday morning."
