Pardew upbeat after talks
02 Dec 2006 - 10:46:29
West Ham United boss Alan Pardew has again backed Argentinian duo Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano to be long-term successes at Upton Park.
The pair signed for the Hammers earlier this season in a deal brokered by Kia Joorabchian, who has recently seen his takeover bid for the club fail as an Icelandic consortium took control.
However, Pardew has now held talks with Joorabchian about Mascherano and Tevez and is upbeat about the future prospects.
He said: "I think they are both likely to stay. My meeting with Kia was constructive.
"He showed he has a motivation for the two guys to be a success here, as I do, and we hope that is the case.
"Tevez is finding his route and I think Mascherano will too.
"They're contracted to the club and have both shown fantastic commitment since they've been here. The only thing they need to progress on is their English.
"They've shown great quality in training from day one. The plan is that they are contracted to the club and I treat all contracted players the same way."
