Reports suggest West Ham United boss Alan Curbishley has handed a trial to the former Kaizer Chiefs left-back David Obua.
The 24-year-old Ugandan is believed to have trained with the rest of the Hammers squad on Friday in an attempt to earn a contract at Upton Park.
Obua is a free agent since leaving his South African club side and is believed to be keen to tie up a switch to a European team.
The defender recently said: "As a professional, I have to weigh up my options and make a decision. I have many offers, but I'm not about to rush.
"One thing is for sure, I'm not returning to South Africa. I have nothing to prove in South Africa because I believe I've won everything as an individual. I need a new challenge that will only be realised in Europe."
Obua has played 22 games for his country and last year scored a hat-trick in an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger.
