No Hammers switch for Beckham
29 Jul 2010 - 16:18:24
A spokesman for David Beckham has refuted rumours suggesting the Los Angeles Galaxy star is interested in joining West Ham United.
The Hammers had said the 35-year-old former Manchester United and Real Madrid star had held talks with them about the possibility of moving to Upton Park.
However, Beckham's spokesman was quoted on Press Association Sport as saying: "While it's flattering to hear of interest there has been no contact with or offer from West Ham.
"David is happy at the Los Angeles Galaxy and has no interest in leaving and is looking forward to returning to the team on August 9."
Hammers co-owner David Gold had earlier said there had been discussions about a possible transfer for Beckham, who is currently recovering from an Achilles injury.
He was quoted in The Sun as saying: "We had some discussions with David's agents a few months ago and it was a possibility.
"He's preoccupied with a few projects but he's promised he will give every consideration to the possibility of joining us."
