New deal for Hammer Reid
14 Nov 2007 - 07:34:05
West Ham United have secured the services of teenage winger Kyel Reid until 2009 with a two-year contract extension.
The 19-year-old wideman has made a handful of appearances for the club's first-team, including coming off the bench in September's Carling Cup third round victory over Plymouth Argyle.
Reid, who spent six months on loan at Championship club Barnsley last season, is regarded as one of the brightest prospects to have emerged from the club's academy in recent seasons.
"I am really happy to commit to the club," the England Under-19s international told the club's official website.
"I am determined to do my best and fight for a first-team place.
"I am learning a lot from the senior players, especially Matt Etherington and Luis Boa Morte in my position, and want to keep on making good progress."
