West Ham United strikerDean Ashton has revealed that he has had another operation on his injured left ankle.
The former Crewe Alexandra and Norwich City forward was pleased with the way the surgery went, but still does not know when he will be ready for a return to action.
World renowned specialist Niek van Dijk operated on Ashton in London, with the 25-year-old England international saying: "It was disappointing to have another operation.
"But it had to be done and was only a minor thing, so I'm glad it's all done now.
"I was also very pleased to have two of the best ankle specialists in the room at the same time when I had the operation done. The feedback I've had from everyone has been great, so that's very good for me.
"Another good thing is that I haven't lost any of the fitness I'd gained before the operation, so I can get back to everything again soon and continue to work hard.
"But the important thing is I'm working hard and looking to be firing on all cylinders when I come back."
