McCartney ready for return
20 Dec 2007 - 13:39:04
West Ham United defender George McCartney is looking to forward to returning to the north east to take on Middlesbrough on Saturday.
The Northern Irishman joined the Hammers from Sunderland in 2006 and is expecting a warm welcome at the Riverside Stadium from fans who can recall his days on Wearside.
However, McCarthy also believes the Londoners can bring home the points due to their impressive away form which has seen them embark on a five-game unbeaten run.
"For some reason we are better away from home," he told the club's official website.
"Middlesbrough were in the relegation fight a couple of weeks ago, but a couple of wins have got them out of that and they will be thinking if they beat us they will go a couple of points behind us. It is not going to be an easy game."
Referring to the home fans, he added: "I am sure I will not get too much from them.
"I will just be staying focused on the game and hopefully the team can bounce back and get a good result."
