Magnusson tips duo to stay
04 Dec 2006 - 15:58:25
West Ham United's new chairman Eggert Magnusson insists Argentinian duo Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano will not be heading out of Upton Park in next month's transfer window.
Both players have failed to impress in the Premiership since their move to the Hammers in August but Magnusson thinks they will eventually prove to be good acquisitions.
"For me, after everything has settled and the takeover is finally over, I'm sure they will start to show us what kind of world-class players they are," he told Sky Sports News.
"I think Tevez yesterday (against Everton) showed that he's a really good player, and I can more or less say that they will be staying with us until the summer, so I'm looking forward to these players showing how good they are.
"There's a FIFA regulation that says players can't play for two clubs in one season so I think they'll stay.
"But it's not up to us because we don't own the players - there 's a consortium that owns the players. In the summer we have to talk to them because they can take them away to another club if they want to."
Tevez has failed to score in 11 games for the Hammers while Mascherano has been restricted to just seven appearances.
