Kovac returns to Hammers

West Ham United have re-signed Radoslav Kovac after landing the Czech Republic midfielder from Spartak Moscow for an undisclosed fee.

Kovac, 29, made nine appearances for the Hammers last season after joining on loan in January.

He has now rejoined Gianfranco Zola's side on a three-year contract but may have to wait to make his first appearance while international clearance is received.

"I am delighted to be back," Kovac told the club's official website.

"I enjoyed my time here last season and I am very happy to get the chance to come back and compete for a place at West Ham.

"It is great that it is a permanent deal and that it is all sorted out.

"Now I can just concentrate on doing well for the club and the fans."
