Keeper Davis to join Hammers

West Ham United are set to complete the signing of Southampton goalkeeper Kelvin Davis.

Davis, 32, will provide back-up for Hammers number one and England international Robert Green at Upton Park next season.

The former Ipswich Town and Sunderland keeper is out of contract at the now League One club and has undergone a medical with the Hammers.

Meanwhile, manager Gianfranco Zola is delighted to be back on the training ground following the summer break.

"We are here very much willing and ready to start this new season.

"We have a lot of enthusiasm and are looking forward to getting started," he told the club's official website ahead of his first pre-season as a manager.

"I had a very, very good rest and, like everybody else, I recharged my batteries to start the new season.

"This is the most crucial time of the year. We need to make sure we work well because it will have a lot of benefits in the future."
