Javier a happy Hammer
09 Sep 2006 - 12:28:44
West Ham United new boy Javier Mascherano is confident that he made the right choice in joining the Hammers, having been linked with a number of Europe's top clubs.
The 22-year-old Argentina midfielder has arrived to Upton Park along with international colleague Carlos Tevez from Corinthians and, despite ongoing controversy about the switch, Mascherano is content with his move.
He said: "I know West Ham produced many of the players that currently play for England and that the manager has a big influence on the current good form of the club thanks to his strong personality.
"I know about its long history and some of the trophies they have won and I always knew about its youth scheme that produced so many world-class players.
"I know I made the right choice in coming here and I'm happy that I come to a club that's is going in the right direction.
"We don't care that is not a European giant, we appreciated their interest in us from minute one and will try to repay that trust with good performances.
"We are fully committed to West Ham and we don't see this move as a stop-over to any other club."
