Inept Hammers shock Yossi
03 Jan 2007 - 09:36:34
West Ham United midfielder Yossi Benayoun has admitted that he was ashamed by the display the Hammers produced on Monday as Alan Curbishley's side slumped to an embarrassing 6-0 defeat at Reading.
The loss leaves the club in a dire position near the foot of the Premiership table and in real danger of slipping back into the Championship after only two years in English football's top flight.
"I am ashamed. I am shocked at the way we played. We played like a bunch of drunks," the Israel international told The Sun.
"If we keep on playing like this, we will definitely be relegated. The situation is very bad. I felt like crying.
"The next game against Fulham has become the most important game of the season. Hopefully, everyone will wake up now and give more than 100 per cent of their ability.
"Curbishley said to the players that no-one will go (in the transfer window) - but who knows after this game?
"At the moment, I am not going. The fans like me, I have had no offers."
