West Ham co-owner David Gold has confirmed that his club are keen to try and sign loan striker Victor Obinna on a permanent basis at the end of the season.
The 23-year-old Nigeria is currently on a season-long loan from Inter Milan and has shown up well for the Hammers, despite their struggles at the wrong end of the Premier League table.
Gold told the Daily Star: "We don't have an option to buy Victor at the end of his loan deal, but we have spoken to Inter and we do have an understanding with them.
"We have been impressed with Victor. Hopefully we can do some business because he is a player we want to keep.
"Of course that would depend on which league we are playing in next season, but we are confident we can get out of the position we are in."
Obinna has scored twice in 12 appearances for the Irons to date, although both his strikes have come in the Carling Cup.
