Hammers confirm Petrovic sacking

West Ham have released a statement as short and brief as Zeljko Petrovic's stay at the club to confirm his departure. The assistant manager had widely been tipped to face the boot following reports of major rifts within the squad about the Montenegrin.  According to various sources Petrovic seemed rather arrogant, unenthusiastic and many believed he wasn’t pushing the squad hard enough. A statement released on the official website reads: “West Ham United can confirm the club have parted company with assistant manager Zeljko Petrovic. “The club would like to thank Zeljko for his efforts during his four months at the Boleyn Ground and wish him well for the future.” A number of former West Ham players have been mentioned as talk of his successor continues to grow.  Alvin Martin, Paulo Di Canio and Julian Dicks are just three of the names linked with a coaching role at the club.
