Hammer blow for Ferdinand

06 November 2006 11:21
West Ham United's last-gasp victory over Arsenal on Sunday may have come at a price after Anton Ferdinand limped out of the action at Upton Park. The England Under-21 international was forced off in the first half and faces a scan on his Achilles tendon to discover the extent of the injury. Ferdinand was replaced by George McCartney as the Hammers moved up to 15th in the table following Marlon Harewood's late winner. The 21-year-old - brother of Manchester United's Rio - has made 12 appearances at the heart of the Hammers defence this season.
