Green unhappy at challenge
17 Mar 2009 - 07:26:36
West Ham United goalkeeper Robert Green claims he is lucky not to be seriously injured after being elbowed in the face by Jonas Olsson during Monday's goalless draw with West Brom.
The England goalkeeper was caught by the Baggies defender in the second-half incident which saw Shelton Martis head against the crossbar for the visitors.
Green watched replays of the incident at full-time before revealing his unhappiness at the challenge of the Swedish defender.
"Looking at the replays on the television, he's caught me with a good one," said Green.
"Luckily it was on a sturdy part of my face rather than an eye socket or my nose.
"That could have done me some proper damage, but I'll live to fight another day."
Meanwhile, Baggies manager Tony Mowbray has defended Olsson after claiming the defender is "a gentleman".
"Olsson would be the least (likely) person to do anything on purpose," he said.
"He's an absolute gentleman and wouldn't do anything like that."
