Green tipped for recall
21 Nov 2007 - 11:00:47
West Ham United boss Alan Curbishley believes an England recall for Robert Green is on the cards should the goalkeeper continue to perform at his current level.
Green, 27, has earned just one England cap which came two years ago and he has been overlooked for the national side since Steve McClaren took the helm.
The former Norwich City keeper has been in the international wilderness since suffering a groin injury on the eve of the 2006 World Cup.
However, Curbishley is confident that a recall is just around the corner after an impressive season for the Hammers.
Green is behind Paul Robinson, Scott Carson and David James in the current England pecking order.
"He is not far off that England squad. I think everybody knows that, " he told the club's official website.
"He has got to just keep doing what he does. He can't do any more."
"I have never seen someone work as hard in training. He is totally dedicated to becoming the best he can be."
"His performances since he came back into the side and this season have been superb."
