Green set for Hammers switch
14 Aug 2006 - 14:52:42
West Ham United are in pole position to sign England goalkeeper Robert Green after having a bid accepted by Norwich City.
The Canaries revealed on Sunday that they were in talks with Charlton Athletic about a possible transfer for Green, but have now agreed terms with the Hammers for a deal which could eventually be worth £2million.
The 26-year-old still has to negotiate personal terms and pass a medical before he can become a West Ham player.
Green has made 241 first-team appearances for Norwich since progressing from the club's youth set-up and was named in England's squad for the World Cup finals.
However, he missed the tournament after rupturing his groin in a warm-up match against Belarus, an injury he is still recovering from.
