Green insists hard work handed him World Cup chance in South Africa

Number one: Green played for England against Egypt at Wembley Robert Green has insisted his hard work could land him a place as England's first choice goalkeeper for the World Cup finals. Green would now seem to be Fabio Capello's first choice after starting England's friendly clash with Egypt earlier this month. And he said: 'I feel like since Christmas I have had a real turnaround. 'I looked at myself and tried to improve myself in those smalldetails and hopefully feeling better and I feel better for it and wantto improve from it. 'I am looking at the squad as soon as it is announced along witheveryone else to see if I am in it and that's the way it should be. Youdo not take it for granted.' England are among the favourites toland football's greatest prize in South Africa, and Green feels theycan enjoy a successful campaign. 'It is going to be a tough one,' he told Sky.
