Gabbidon happy to be back

Wales international defender Danny Gabbidon is delighted to be back in action for West Ham United after 18 months on the sidelines due to a series of injuries.

The 29-year-old featured in the pre-season friendly against Grays Athletic, having been out of action since the end of 2007.

He told the Ilford Recorder: "This game will do me the world of good and hopefully I can push on from there.

"I am still a fair way off from Premier League fitness. Your body is not used to playing and all the different movements that come from playing, so I would probably say I have got a fair bit to go.

"My last game was over 18 months ago. It has been a really long time and it has been tough watching the players go out and play and not being able to be out there.

"But I have kept positive and I always thought I would get back out on the field."
