    FIFA wade into Tevez storm

    15 May 2007 - 12:56:10

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has promised to look into the Premier League's decision not to dock West Ham points despite breaching rules over the signing of Argentine duo Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.

Blatter, as the head of the world governing body, has the power to make a final judgement on the ruling after an independent commission decided to fine the Hammers a record £5.5million but not dock them points.

Relegated Sheffield United and a host of other Premiership clubs are also considering launching a legal challenge to the ruling which was made after West Ham were found guilty of breaking rules over the third-party ownership of players.

"We will look at this and not only if we are asked, we will do it anyway," confirmed Blatter.

"We will ask for the file once it has been decided how and why the decision was made.

"If we feel something was wrong in this decision then we have to open our file."

Blatter, however, did concede that the transfer of Tevez and Mascherano from Corinthians to Upton Park had been compiled within international transfer regulations.

Meanwhile, UEFA president Michel Platini insists Europe's governing body has no plans to look into the controversial signing of the South American duo.
