Faubert steps up comeback
29 Nov 2007 - 07:13:44
West Ham United boss Alan Curbishley has revealed that Julien Faubert should be able to return to training next week.
The French winger has yet to make his debut for the Hammers following his summer switch from Bordeaux.
The 24-year-old has been sidelined since suffering an Achilles injury in the pre-season friendly against Sigma Olomouc in July.
Curbishley told the club's official website: "We're expecting him back here at the training ground next week.
"He's been off in a rehab clinic in the south of France. It sounds nice but it's where the French players go to recover.
"He's worked ever so hard so we're hoping he may be back in contention in the new year and certainly by the end of January.
"I'd like to think if he has a decent rehab out on the pitches then he shouldn't be far off that."
The Hammers' lengthy injury list is showing some signs of improving with Scott Parker, Hayden Mullins, Mark Noble and Dean Ashton all fit again, while Anton Ferdinand, Freddie Ljungberg and Lee Bowyer are stepping up their rehabilitation work.
