West Ham United's £6.1million summer signing Julien Faubert made a successful return from a long-term injury for the club's reserves on Monday.
The 24-year-old France international scored on his comeback from a serious Achilles injury which had kept him on the sidelines since July.
Faubert scored in the first minute of the Hammers' 2-1 reserve defeat by Aston Villa at Walsall.
The former Bordeaux midfielder played 45 minutes for the first time since suffering the injury against Czech side Sigma Olomouc in a pre-season friendly on July 17.
"He's direct, he's pacy but at the same time he will work hard for the team," reserve team boss Kevin Keen told the club's official website.
"We hope once he's back to full fitness, he can really go into the first team and make a difference on that right side for us.
"He's a super kid. He's enthusiastic. He's not someone who is just going to go forward, he's going to work hard for the team which is something we need at the moment."
