Curbs wants more from Tevez
18 Apr 2007 - 12:05:47
West Ham United manager Alan Curbishley has accused Carlos Tevez of not giving his all in Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Sheffield United.
The 23-year-old Argentinian had been in outstanding form in the previous three games - all of which had been won to revive hopes that the Hammers could avoid the drop - but produced a poor display in the six-pointer at Bramall Lane.
Curbishley said: "I spoke to Carlos. I was disappointed with his performance on Saturday, I must admit.
"The way he has been performing and the way he has attacked recently, certainly at Upton Park, has galvanised everybody.
"The effort he has been putting in means I've had to substitute him near the end of games.
"We didn't get that at Sheffield and I need that against Chelsea. I like to think this will be a stage for some of them - and Carlos has to be one of them."
Tevez has scored three goals in 24 appearances for the Hammers since his arrival at Upton Park last August.
